Mark Kendall, an at-large Washington City Council member, stepped down from his seat following Tuesday night’s Washington City Council meeting. He explained there is a lot for a new council member to learn and that doing so before budget time in the first part of the year is helpful. Thursday afternoon Mayor Sandra Johnson swore in new council member Millie Youngquist.

Youngquist was elected the new at-large city council member earlier this month. She received 413 votes, approximately 50% of the vote, over the other two candidates. Kendall did not seek re-election.

This week’s meeting was the first for Brendan DeLong who was also elected earlier this month and fills the seat previously held by Bob Shellmyer.
