The senior shooting guard for the Washington Demons boys basketball team (2-5 overall) was one of the top scorers in the Southeast Conference during the first half of the season. Derek Anding posted 127 points in seven games during the month of December, an average of 18.1 points per game. The only player in the league with more points is Fort Madison senior Camden Chrisman, who recorded 148 points through six games.

Anding’s season has featured six double-digit point performances, pouring in 24 or more points in three contests. He has accounted for nearly one-third of the Demons’ offense this season (33.1 percent), and is the 15th best scorer in Class 3A.
