A group of upperclassmen are sharing the scoring load this season for the Keota Eagles boys’ basketball team (7-2 overall). Four players have scored 85 or more points this season.

Senior Zach Mousel leads the Eagles with 132 points, an average of 14.7 points. Junior Jacob Wickenkamp poured in 110 points in nine games, averaging 12.2 points a contest. Senior Isaiah Hahn has contributed 90 points, a 10 point per game average, while junior Avery Conrad chipped in 85 points.

The four players took turns being the team’s leading scorer. Mousel and Wickenkamp led the Eagles in scoring three times each, Hahn twice, and Conrad once.

The Eagles’ defense has improved throughout the month as well. After allowing an average of 65.5 points in the first two games of the season, Keota has allowed only 39.5 points per game over their last seven.

The Eagles boys’ basketball team returns to competition Tuesday, January 5, traveling to New Sharon for a South Iowa Cedar League cross over game versus the North Mahaska Warhawks (3-4 overall).
