Front runner for the Democratic party’s nomination for president, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, made good on her promise to stop in Keota on Tuesday. Clinton visited Keota as a result of a campaign created by three sociology students at Keota High School. At her event, Clinton said, it all started with the three girls wearing Keota Hopes for Hillary shirts. She told them she hoped to come to Keota. The girls kept coming to events until Clinton said she would come.

Abby Schulte, Kylea Tinnes, and Megan Adam were the three students who spearheaded the effort bring presidential candidates to Keota. Before Clinton spoke they told KCII News, it is a dream come true to see all of the hard work pay off.

Climate change, wind energy, education, immigration and national defense were among the topics Clinton discussed. RealClearPolitics shows Clinton with 55.7 percent of the democratic support nationally with Bernie Sanders following with 30.4 percent.
