The Sigourney-Keota Savage Cobra wrestling team is off to a great start, and beginning to turn heads around the state.

The Cobras continue their rise in the latest state wrestling polls. SK started the year ranked 10th in thepredicament.com’s dual team rankings on December 8th. Since they have climbed to 8th in the latest Iowa Wrestling Coaches Association poll.

SK is off to a 9-0 start to the dual season overall and the Cobras are leading the South Iowa Cedar League with a 5-0 conference record. Sigourney-Keota has also finished as tournament runners-up at the Willard Howell Invitational on December 5th and the Regina Invitational December 19th. The Cobras currently have three ranked wrestlers in the lineup. Lane Boender is rated 5th in the state at 145lbs. He has a 12-5 overall record on the year. Kaleb Reeves is 8th at 182lbs. Reeves has an individual record of 15-2 and was a champion at the Willard Howell Invitational. Noah Boender is rated 6th at 220lbs with an overall record of 16-2 and was a champion at the Willard Howell Invitational. The Cobras are back on the mat after the Christmas break Thursday, January 7th when they battle Colfax-Mingo, Lynnville Sully and HLV in a quadrangular.
