For a second year in a row farm values have slipped in Iowa. Values across the survey declined $310 per acre, or 3.9 percent, since last year’s survey. In Washington County land value declined around 4.5% with high grade land selling for $9,304 per acre. State-wide farm values have fallen nearly 13% since the record high prices of 2013. The highest price in the state can be found in Scott County at $11,618 and the lowest in Decatur County at $3,587. The Center for Agricultural and Rural Development at Iowa State University and Iowa State University Extension and Outreach determines the land values through the Iowa Land Value Survey conducted in November each year.
