The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk wrestling team has put together a great start to the season entering Christmas break.

Going into the holiday recess the Golden Hawks are perfect in conference dual action, with a mark of 4-0. Overall Mid-Prairie is 6-1 on the campaign. The Golden Hawks lone setback came in the first event of the year a 43-42 loss to the Wapello Indians in the final dual of a quadrangular on December 1st. The Golden Hawks lost the dual against Wapello on criteria tiebreaker “I”.

On the tournament scene, the Golden Hawks have participated in events at New London, Marion, Mount Vernon, and North Linn. The best finish for the Golden Hawks as a team came at the Jeremy Fulk Classic in New London on Saturday, December 5th, taking third place with their total of 151 points. Eli Steckly at 113lbs, Duncan McCain at 120lbs, Cameron Tolander at 182lbs, and Visouth Peterschmidt at 195lbs all brought home championships for the Hawks. Mid-Prairie opens up the second half of their season on Monday, January 4th when they travel to Iowa City Regina for a River Valley Conference Triangular with West Branch and Iowa City Regina.
