The Mid-Prairie boys basketball team ran into a hot shooting bunch from Tipton Tuesday night, falling 70-40 in their conference and season opener.
In a game heard on AM and FM KCII, Tipton, known as a prolific outside shooting team, opened the game by missing their first three from beyond the arc but heated up quickly, knocking down six three pointers in total in the first half, taking a 35-21 lead into the locker room.
The Tigers stayed hot in the second half, stretching the lead to as many as 32 behind good shooting and 20 Mid-Prairie turnovers. Offensively, the Golden Hawks were led by Noah Altenhofen’s 12 points, Ryan Cortum and Derek Rich each had eight for Mid-Prairie. With the loss the Golden Hawks are 0-1 on the year and host Northeast of Gooselake in their next game on Friday.
