The KCII Big Red Radio took part in the annual lighted holiday parade in Washington last Friday.

Nearly 10 percent of Washington County residents live in poverty. According to the United States Census Bureau, from 2009 to 2013 9.8 percent of the population, or about 2,160 people, were below the poverty level locally.

KCII is collecting items to help area food pantries that help those in need. The KCII Big Red Radio is making it’s next stop on the 13th annual KCII Caring Christmas food drive Thursday at CBI Bank and Trust in Washington from 10 to noon. The goal is to fill the Big Red Radio with non-perishable food and toiletry items to restock area food pantries after their busy holiday season.
