The Mid-Prairie wrestling team opened their season Tuesday night at a quadrangular dual meet in Wapello.

The Golden Hawks won two of their three matchups on the night. Mid-Prairie began the evening by beating Eddyville-Blakesburg 42-36. The Golden Hawks got pins from David Murray at 132lbs, Visouth Peterschmidt at 220lbs and Levi Duwa at 285lbs.

Mid-Prairie fell to the Wapello Indians on their home mat 43-42. The dual ended tied at 42. To break the tie the officials went to criteria and awarded Wapello the win on criteria I, most near fall points, a category the Indians won 5-1. Mid-Prairie had pins from Cameron Tolander at 182lbs, Visouth Peterschmidt at 195lbs, and Duncan McCain.

The Golden Hawks also got a dual win over English Valleys 54-24. After Tuesday Mid-Prairie is now 2-1 on the year, the Golden Hawks will next be in action Saturday when they travel to the New London tournament.
