It has been a fast start to the winter sports season for the Highland girls’ basketball teams (8-1 overall; 5-1 SEISC North). The Huskies concluded the first half of their season with four straight victories, including a 64-50 win against the Columbus Wildcats (4-4 overall) Tuesday. Highland had four players record double digit points in the victory, led by senior Cheyann Adamson with 15 points.

Highland’s starting back court of Adamson and junior Kelsey Hora is near the top in the conference in several statistical categories. Hora is third in the SEISC North with 18.1 points per game average, while Adamson is sixth with 15.9 points. The pair are also third and fourth respectively in assists. Hora has dished out 36 dimes, while Adamson has facilitated on 34 made baskets.

Hora was the best player in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North at causing turnovers during the first half of the season, swiping 36 steals. Adamson ranks fifth in the conference in steals, recording 30 in early season play.

The Huskies are scheduled to return to competition Tuesday, January 5, traveling to Wayland for a SEISC North bout with the WACO Warriors (5-5 overall).
