The Iowa Mennonite School National Honor Society and Compassion Club recently held a food drive to help local food pantries during the holiday season. The club set a goal of collecting 1000 items. The NHS then decided to make things interesting and have a competition between the classes. The winners were the junior class who beat the second place freshmen by a single point. The school’s Parent Teacher Organization rewarded the junior class with a pizza party. NHS students sorted, boxed and delivered the donated food to pantries in Wellman and Kalona.

NHS sponsor, Lynn Yoder said “We really didn’t think we could collect that much. But the whole student body really came through and we did it!”
