The Iowa Mennonite School boys basketball team stayed perfect on the young season beating WACO 41-36 Friday night at Hillcrest Union in Kalona.

IMS got out to a fast start, using a 9-0 run midway through the first quarter to take a 15-5 lead after one quarter and a 30-16 advantage into the halftime break. Both team’s defenses dominated the third quarter, with WACO outscoring IMS 8-2 in the frame to the lead to 32-24 going to the final frame. In the fourth quarter IMS led by 11 before WACO put together a run spurred by Jackson Roth and Duncan Pickard to get within two at 38-36. IMS was able to hit free throws down the stretch to put the game away.

IMS was led in the game by Eli Gingerich with 19 points, NIck Yutzy added 10 in the win. WACO was led on the night by Duncan Pickard with 15 points, Jackson Roth added 11. With the win IMS is now 2-0 on the year while WACO falls to 0-2.
