Lake Darling is set to join state parks across the nation on New Years Day. The annual event is called First Day Hike. Weather permitting the park is inviting everyone to join in a two-mile hike starting at 9 a.m. at the Lake Darling State Park Lodge. Park Ranger Zach Haworth says, it’s important to get people out in nature and start the year off right. Haworth also said the park has seen more than 180,000 visitors in 2015. The hike will include a tour of the new four season cabins. Coffee and hot chocolate will be available following the hike.
