The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls basketball teams open up the conference portion of their schedule Tuesday when they host the Tipton Tigers.

The Mid-Prairie girls currently stand at 0-1 on the year after falling last Tuesday to No. 4 in class 4A Fairfield by a 63-50 score. Mid-Prairie was led in the game by sophomore Addison Rath with her career high 23 points, Alex Rath had 14. The Tigers are taking the floor for the first time this season tonight. Tipton is coming off of a 2-20 campaign a season ago that saw them compile a 1-17 mark in conference play. Mid-Prairie swept the season series with the Tigers last year, winning 49-20 in Wellman and topping the Tigers 45-23 on the road.

The Mid-Prairie boys basketball team will officially step on the floor tonight when they take on Tipton in the nightcap of the doubleheader. The Golden Hawks have had two scrimmages on the early season, and split the pair of games, beating Keota at the Mid-Prairie jamboree on November 23 by a 26-25 score. Caleb Statler led the way in the game with 12 points. On Friday the Mid-Prairie boys participated in the Hall of Pride Challenge scrimmage at Iowa Mennonite School with IMS taking the game 68-62. Mid-Prairie was led by a career high 26 points from Statler, Nolan Faselt had 14 and Ryan Cortum 11 points. The Tipton boys were 12-11 a year ago, an even 9-9 in the River Valley Conference. The Tigers swept the season series against the Golden Hawks, winning 89-54 in Wellman on the strength of 16 three point goals and topping Mid-Prairie 83-59 at home in late January.
