The Mid-Prairie girls basketball team started fast and finished strong on Friday  night, beating West Liberty on the road in conference play 52-30.

The Golden Hawks started the game on a 14-2 run and led 16-8 after one period. The Comets would close the gap to 20-17 midway through the second quarter, only to see Mid-Prairie go on another run, this one 10-0 and take a 32-19 lead into the half. Out of the locker room Mid-Prairie put things out of reach with a 14-0 run that spanned the entire third quarter and the Hawks led 46-19 going to the fourth.

The Golden Hawks had a trio in double figures, led by Addison Rath with 20, Ireland Hostetler had 16 points and Ali Butters added 14. With the win Mid-Prairie is now 4-2 overall and 4-1 in conference play. The Golden Hawks are back in action this afternoon when they travel to No. 12 Durant.
