A recent graduate of Washington Community Schools is gearing up for his first postseason college football game this afternoon in Cedar Falls. After losing their first two games of the regular season, the No.5 Iowa Western Community College Reivers (9-2 overall) won their final nine games of the year to become bowl eligible.

Six of the final nine games saw Tommy Peterson, a 2015 Washington High School graduate, anchoring the team’s starting left tackle position. Since Peterson’s offensive debut on October 3 versus Garden City, the Reivers have average over 35 points per game. He earned honorable mention recognition from the coaches of the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference for his on field duties this fall.

Iowa Western is set to face the No. 17 Georgia Military Bulldogs (8-3 overall) this afternoon at the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls. Peterson isn’t a stranger to playing under the UNI Dome lights. As a junior, he played a pair of games at Northern Iowa’s football facility. Washington won 14-9 over the Solon Spartans in the 2013 Class 3A semifinal game before falling to the Sioux City Heelan Crusaders, 47-14, in the state championship game a week later.

The Georgia Military Bulldogs went through their regular season schedule with eight wins and three losses, winning their final four games of the regular season.

Kickoff of the 2015 Graphic Edge Bowl is set to commence at 3 p.m. today at the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls.
