Despite a first round exit  in the Class 1A playoffs, the Sigourney-Keota Cobras (6-4 overall; 5-1 Class 1A District 6) had several athletes named to the varying Class 1A District 6 postseason teams.

Four Cobras were named to the district’s first team squad, two for the offensive team and two on defense.  Senior tailback Peyton Crawford ended his high school football career as a first team running back selection. Crawford finished this season with 1,747 rushing yards and found the endzone 25 times. Crawford amassed 165 receiving yards, the second most on the team, and his three touchdown receptions were the most for Sigourney-Keota.

Senior Zeb Webb was selected to the first team all-district offense as a tackle. He assisted the Cobras in averaging 325.7 rushing yards per game this season, the fourth most in Class 1A football.

Senior Lane Boender made the district’s first team defensive squad as a linebacker. Boender’s 84.5 total tackles were the most recorded by a Cobra this fall, and his six tackles for loss are tied for the most on the team.

Junior Noah Boender joins his older brother on the first team all-district defense as a defensive tackle. His four solo sacks top the team, and his 48 total tackles are the third most for the Cobras this fall.

Three Cobras made the second team all-district football squad including: senior Isaiah Hahn (tight end), sophomore Luke Greiner (quarterback), and junior Avery Moore (cornerback). Senior Jordan Albert, senior Nate Sieren, and junior Alec Schuster were named all-district honorable mention honorees.

After posting a .500 record through the first six weeks of the season, the Cobras won their final three games of the regular season to capture a 6-3 regular season record and a number two seed in the Class A playoffs. Sigourney-Keota’s season came to an end in their postseason opener, falling 28-26 to the Hudson Pirates.
