A proposal for Washington and Louisa counties to share mental health and disability services is being considered. The stated purpose in the 28E agreement is to establish a “working mechanism” between the two counties in the region to share the Washington county Mental Health and Disability Services Director and Louisa County Community Services Clerk between the two counties. Bobbie Wulf is the director.

Supervisor chairman Jack Seward explained this coincides with moves to regionalize duties. Washington County will pay 66% of the director’s salary while Louisa County would pay 34%, as the director is a current employee of Washington County. The percentages are based on the counties’ populations. The proposal would increase the pay from $27.69 per hour for just Washington County to $82,595 or $39.41 per hour for both counties. If approved, Washington County will pay less under the percentage than the county currently pays.

The supervisors unanimously voted to table the item for further consideration.
