The WACO girls basketball team scored their first win of the season on the road Friday night, beating Iowa Mennonite School 34-20 in a game heard on AM and FM KCII.

With the game tied at seven after the first quarter, WACO took control in the second, outscoring IMS  17-7 in the frame to take a 26-14 lead into the halftime break. Out of the locker room WACO continued their great defensive effort, holding IMS scoreless through the entire third quarter, to build a 32-14 lead going to the fourth. It took Iowa Mennonite more than 14 minutes of the second half to muster their first points, a made free throw by Jess Bender. IMS had just one made field goal in the second half, a fourth quarter three pointer from Suzanna Yoder.

WACO was led in the win by Halle Kissel with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Clara Schmitz also had 12 points for the Warriors. IMS was led by six points each from Rachel Miller and Suzanna Yoder. With the win WACO is now 1-2 overall while IMS falls to 0-3 on the season.
