A new system to see how each public school across Iowa is performing is in place and the first Iowa School Report Cards are out. Washington High School, Washington Middle School and Lincoln Elementary School were each given “acceptable” ratings. The new system assigns one of six ratings to schools based on different educational measures, the ratings are: exceptional, high-performing, commendable, acceptable, needs improvement and priority. Washington High School received 60.4 points out of the 100 possible. It’s three strongest categories, each above 90 percent, were staff retention, attendance and graduation rate. The school’s lowest category was college and career ready growth at 33.4 percent.
