The Iowa Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association (IWCOA) recently released their first batch of dual team rankings and the Washington Demons (17-0 overall) are among the best in the Class 2A field. The IWCOA rates the top 16 teams in each class, and the Class 2A poll has the Demons slated as the 13th best squad.

Washington competed in 17 duals during the month of December, leaving the mat victorious in every one. Nine Demon wrestlers will enter the new calendar year with 16 or more wins under their belts, including senior Michael Ellingson (17-3), juniors Trey Van Weelden (20-0), Austin Hazelett (18-1), Kyle Anderson (17-2), and Karlton Skuball (16-2), and freshmen David Hora (16-4), Garrett Ikerd (18-2), Walker Ikerd (18-2), and Tristan Westphal-Edwards (18-2).

Washington returns to competition January 7, entertaining the Fort Madison Bloodhounds (4-1 overall) in a Southeast Conference dual.
