A winter storm hit Washington County and southeast Iowa early Monday bringing snow, wind, ice and sleet. Temperatures dropped to 30 degrees overnight and less than an inch of snow was recorded as of 6 a.m. Monday morning.

The winter storm warning went into effect at midnight Sunday night and was issued by the National Weather Service for a system bringing Gulf moisture northward. Residents are reminded to have a winter survival kit in vehicles and travel only when necessary.
