In front of friends, coaches, and teammates, one Highland senior softball player made her college plans official Friday morning. Senior Cheyanne Adamson ended the school week by putting pen to paper, signing a letter of intent to play softball for the Des Moines Area Community College Bears starting in the spring of 2017.

Adamson tells KCII Sports her decision to join DMACC’s squad after positive meetings from the Bear’s coaching staff, and learning about the success of the program. The community college also offers business administration classes, the major Adamson is interested in.

DMACC assistant coach and recruiting coordinator Daron Harris was on hand for the signing, and told KCII Sports the team is happy to her on the team. Harris says the Huskies have a respected program in southeast Iowa, and is one they’ve been following when recruiting.

The Bears’ softball team won 51 games last spring under head coach Bob Ligouri.
