Approximately 160 Washington residences were tagged to clean ice and snow off of sidewalks following last week’s snowfall. Steve Donnolly with the City of Washington explains they will put a door hanger up to clean a walkway and give them 48 hours to do so before the city will clean it. Normally they give people a couple of days following the snow to clean sidewalks. He reminds people to clear them over the next day or two and clear the ice before more snow falls. If the City cleans the sidewalk then property owners have a chance to pay for that service before it is assessed to their taxes.

He reminds people it is a matter of safety for pedestrians, as many people walk to area grocery stores and the downtown district. A chance of snow and rain are in the forecast for Washington County. For weather updates listen to KCII.
