The mandatory holiday break from all high school sports in the state ends at midnight tonight, and the Washington Demon basketball programs are wasting no time resuming regular season competition. Both Demon varsity basketball teams will return to the hardwood in Washington tomorrow, hosting a pair of non-conference contests.

The Demon girls’ basketball team (2-5 overall) opens the varsity doubleheader at 4:30 p.m Saturday, entertaining the Burlington Greyhounds (1-7 overall). Two of the three victories between the schools this season came against the Sigourney Savages (4-5 overall) of Class 1A.

Washington’s boys’ basketball team is scheduled to take the floor at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow, welcoming the Iowa Mennonite School (6-1 overall) to town. The two schools have met each year since 2009 with the team’s splitting the previous six meetings.

Hear previews of each game on this week’s JET Physical Therapy Radio Coaches Corner, tomorrow morning starting at 9 a.m. on KCII.
