Tonight marks the final time this season the No. 13 Washington Demon wrestling team (18-0 overall) will grapple in their home gym. The Demons will put their unblemished dual record to the test, hosting a non-conference quadrangular against English Valleys (4-4 overall), Lone Tree (1-10 overall), and Tipton (3-5 overall).

The latest Predicament individual rankings were released Thursday, and two members of Washington’s wrestling squad are among the top 10 individual wrestlers in the Class 2A field. Junior Kyle Anderson enters the week as the seventh best wrestler at 132 pounds, while junior Karlton Skubal is the sixth best wrestler in the 182 pound weight division.

Tonight’s competition for the Demons are all below .500 in dual action, but each team has a wrestler or two who have found personal success on the mat this season. Lone Tree junior Levi Tripses (132) earned 20 wins in 26 chances. English Valleys junior Zach Axmear (160) has won all 17 of his matches. Tipton freshman John Crowley (113) has won 18 of his first 22 varsity matches, while senior Jordan Challis (220) has been the victor in 17 of his 21 duals.

Tonight’s event has been dubbed Cancer Awareness Night for the Demon wrestling team. First duals are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at Washington High School.
