After a week-long break from competition, the Washington Demon girls’ basketball team (6-6 overall) returned to the hardwood Saturday afternoon. The Demons welcomed the Oskaloosa Indians (1-9 overall) to Washington High School for a non-conference battle. Washington overcame a slow start, winning their sixth game of the season with a 53-50 victory.

Washington’s starting backcourt led the team’s scoring attack. Sophomore Sarah Nacos came away with a team-high 19 points. Senior Morgan Kimball added 13 points, and Senior Amber Salow chipped in eight points.

Osklaoosa’s Alexis Westercamp did her part to keep the Indians close, pouring in a game-high 26 points.

The win evens Washington’s overall record at 6-6. The Demons return to the court tomorrow evening, traveling to Muscatine for a non-conference battle against the Muskies (3-10 overall).
