Iowa is fairing better than the state did at this time last year in regards to drought conditions. Currently none of the Hawkeye State is categorized as having drought conditions. At this time last year, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor, nearly seven percent of the state was abnormally dry.

Across the Midwest currently, only two percent of the region is abnormally dry, in northern Minnesota and a portion of Michigan. California remains the most affected by drought conditions in the country, with 42.6% of the state in exceptional drought and 97% in moderate drought.
