The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls basketball team opens the 2016 portion of their schedule Friday night with a River Valley Conference contest at North Cedar.

Mid-Prairie has compiled a 5-3 overall record and a 5-2 mark in conference play. The Golden Hawks have been off since December 22nd when they lost at West Branch 69-40. On the year, Mid-Prairie has three players averaging double figures led by Addison Rath at 13 points per game, which places her fifth in the conference in scoring. Ali Butters is averaging 11 points per game and Alex Rath is at 10 per contest. Addison Rath also leads the Golden Hawks with 40 rebounds on the year, Emily Cayton has 24 assists to lead the squad and Ireland Hostetler is second in the conference with 13 blocked shots.

North Cedar enters tonight’s game with an overall record of 4-7. The Knights are 2-6 in conference play. North Cedar fell to Camanche on Tuesday 70-65 in overtime. North Cedar was led by Meranda Thimmes with 17 points and 14 rebounds. For the season the Knights are led by Thimmes at 13 points per game, second best in the River Valley North. Emily Hay leads the Knights and the North with 53 assists on the year while Thimmes is tops on the Knights and second best in the conference in rebounding, pulling down 84 so far this year. These two teams met once a year ago with Mid-Prairie taking the matchup 49-36.
