Recently, the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union released the 2016 regional girls basketball playoff brackets.

The No 15 ranked in class 3A Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks received a spot in region six. The Golden Hawks will open region six play in Wellman when they host the Albia Lady Dees on Saturday, February 13th. A win by the Golden Hawks would see them advance to the regional semifinals to be played on Wednesday, February 17th in Donnellson against the winner of Central Lee and Davis County. Teams on the other side of the bracket that Mid-Prairie could potentially face include South Tama, Benton Community, Williamsburg and No. 11 West Marshall.

The regional final for region six will be played on Saturday, February 20th at Oskaloosa. The eight regional champions from across the state qualify for the 2016 state tournament to be played at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. Mid-Prairie’s last state tournament appearance was 2013 when they lost in the state quarterfinals to eventual state runners-up MOC Floyd Valley.
