The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls basketball team started the new year with a 48-36 win at North Cedar Friday night.

In a game heard on AM and FM KCII, the first quarter see-sawed back and forth with the Lady Knights holding an 11-10 lead after the first eight minutes. The Golden Hawks opened the second quarter with a key 8-0 run to take an 18-11 lead. The Hawk lead stood at 22-16 at the halftime break. In the second half Mid-Prairie continued to stretch their advantage pushing it as high as 14 late in the third quarter. The Golden Hawks were able to salt it away down the stretch, never letting North Cedar witin eight points of the lead the rest of the game.

Ali Butters led the way for the Golden Hawks with 15 points, Addison Rath finished with nine. With the win the Golden Hawks improve to 6-3 overall and 6-2 in the River Valley Conference.
