The Mid-Prairie boys and girls basketball teams make the trip to Tipton tonight for a River Valley Conference doubleheader with the Tigers.

The Mid-Prairie girls are 6-3 on the year and 6-2 in conference play. They were last on the floor Friday when they beat North Cedar on the road 48-36. Ali Butters led the way with 15 points, Addison Rath added 10. Mid-Prairie is led by Addison Rath on the year and her 13 points per game average, which is fifth best in the conference. Rath also leads the Hawks with 48 rebounds. Emily Cayton holds the team lead with 27 assists.

The Tipton Tigers enter tonight’s game at 5-5 on the year. Last time out the fell to Cascade 52-47. The Tigers played the No. 14 ranked Cougars close, entering the fourth quarter tied at 36 before falling 52-47. On the year the Tigers are led by Alex Wiese at 17 points per game, best in the River Valley Conference, Wiese also leads the conference and the RVC with 120 rebounds on the year. Emily Hermsen has 30 assists to lead the Tigers and is seventh best in the conference. This week Mid-Prairie head girls basketball coach Stephen Bender talked about getting ready This two teams met once already this season, in Wellman, with the Golden Hawks taking a 44-38 win with Ali Butters leading the way with 14 points.

On just a 24 hour turnaround the Mid-Prairie boys basketball team will be back on the floor, taking on the Tigers in the nightcap Tuesday night. Mid-Prairie is 0-9 on the year. The Golden Hawks fell to the Fairfield Trojans on Monday, 52-44, despite holding a 10 point advantage at the halftime break. On the year Mid-Prairie is led by Nolan Faselt at 10 points per game. Noah Altenhofen leads Mid-Prairie on the glass with 42 rebounds.

Tipton enters tonight’s boys game 6-5 overall on the year and 5-3 in conference play. Last time out the Tigers fell to Cascade 44-39. Adam Hermsen led the Tipton attack with 11 points. Tipton is led by Matt Pelzer and Mark Becker, each averaging 14 points per game. Adam Hermsen holds the team lead with 30 assists. Logan Hoffman leads Tipton with 64 total rebounds.

These two teams met earlier this season in Wellman with Tipton taking a 70-40 win. Noah Altenhofen led the Golden Hawks with 12 points.
