Twelve eastern Iowa wrestling teams are set to grapple in Highland High School’s annual wrestling tournament. The annual Gary Curtis Invitational is set to begin today in rural Riverside.

Highland wrestling coach Clint Jones mentioned on this week’s PM Sports Page this year’s field has expanded from last year. He hopes the event provides high quality wrestling for the athletes to prepare for postseason competition next month.

Athletes from Washington, Highland, Columbus/Winfield-Mount Union, Cascade, Iowa City Regina, Muscatine, New London, South Tama, Tri-County, West Branch, West Liberty, and Wilton will battle bragging rights in all 14 weight divisions.

First matches of the Gary Curtis Invitational are set to begin at 9:30 a.m. at Highland High School. Listen to Monday’s sports page for results from the tournament.
