The Iowa Mennonite School boys basketball team opens their post Christmas break schedule with a contest Saturday night in Washington against the Demons.

IMS wrapped up 2015 with a 6-1 overall mark. They currently stand at 4-1 in conference play, tied with Highland, Lone Tree and Winfield-Mt. Union for the lead in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division. The lone loss for Iowa Mennonite came on alumni night at Hillcrest Union December 18th, when they fell to the Pekin Panthers 56-45.

Iowa Mennonite is led on the score sheet by a trio in double figures. Eli Gingerich leads the team at 17 points per contest while Drake Brezina and Nick Yutzy score 11 per game. Gingerich also leads the team with eight assists and four steals per game. On the boards, Brezina leads the way at five per game.

These two teams matched up a season ago at Hillcrest Union. It was a game that Washington led wire to wire, taking a 59-46 win. Nick Yutzy and Eli Gingerich each had 12 points in last year’s meeting.
