In a Southeast Iowa Superconference doubleheader in Wayland on Friday night, Iowa Mennonite School and WACO split a pair of games.

The girls contest went to the Warriors by a 42-34 count. WACO used stiff defense to build an 8-1 lead after the first quarter and turned that into a 19-12 lead at the halftime break. The third quarter featured more Warrior defense as they held IMS to just seven points, growing their lead to 31-19 entering the final frame. The fourth quarter saw IMS put together a push to get the game back to single digits but no closer. IMS was led on the night by Suzanna Yoder with nine points. With the win the WACO girls are now 6-6 on the year, IMS falls to 0-11.

The boys contest came down to the wire and saw Iowa Mennonite pull out a 46-44 win. WACO got out to a hot start, leading 13-5 after one quarter. IMS would answer back in the second period, outscoring WACO and cutting into the lead. The Warriors were on top 20-17 at the half. WACO kept that slim lead going to the final period with a 32-28 advantage. In the fourth quarter, IMS turned up the defensive pressure and called on their stars to complete the comeback. IMS Senior Eli Gingerich knocked down the game winner on a step back jump shot with just five seconds remaining.

IMS was led on the night by Cole Yoder with 12 points, Eli Gingerich added 11. With the loss WACO falls to 2-11 on the year while IMS improves to 8-4 overall.
