The Iowa Mennonite boys and girls basketball teams hosted Columbus on Friday night in Southeast Iowa Superconference action.

In the girls contest the Wildcats held off IMS 42-36. Iowa Mennonite jumped out to an 11-8 lead after the first quarter, but saw Columbus rally to take a 19-18 lead into the halftime break. The Wildcats took control of the game out of intermission, going on a 14-5 run that lasted the entire third quarter, leading 33-23 going to the final frame. In the fourth IMS would put together a push but never got within five points down the stretch. On the night Columbus was led by Maki Mendenhall and her 15 points, Shania Boyd finished with 14 and Courtney Orr had 11. IMS was led by Suzanna Yoder with 16 points, Rachel Miller added a dozen. With the loss IMS falls to 0-13 overall while Columbus improves to 5-10.

The IMS boys basketball team was able to rebound at home on Friday night, blasting Columbus 54-35. The Wildcats held a slim 9-8 lead after the first quarter but Iowa Mennonite got hot in the second and third quarters, outscoring the Wildcats by a total of 38-17 during those to periods, making up the difference in the game. Nick Yutzy led IMS with a dozen points, Eli Gingerich added 11 points. Columbus was led by Colby Carter with 10 points. With the win IMS improves to 9-5 on the year. The Wildcats are now 0-14 following the loss.
