Iowa Mennonite School hosted Mediapolis Friday night in a Southeast Iowa Superconference doubleheader at Hillcrest Union in Kalona.

In the girls contest MEPO completed the season sweep of IMS, winning 66-26. The Bullettes jumped out to a 24-9 lead after the first quarter and were up 47-13 at the halftime break. MEPO kept the pressure on in the second half, holding Iowa Mennonite to just 13 points in the second half to take the win. In the contest Mediapolis sophomore Mackenzie Rogers set the single game school record for scoring, pouring in 46 points on 16 of 26 shooting, nine of 14 from beyond the arc. Suzanna Yoder led IMS with nine points in the game. With the loss, Iowa Mennonite falls to 0-9 on the season.

The Iowa Mennonite boys were able to hold off Mediapolis for a 46-42 win. In a back and forth first half IMS held a 15-11 lead after one quarter but the Bulldogs rallied to tie the game at 19 going into the halftime break. Things stayed tight in the second half with Mediapolis leading 32-28 going to the fourth quarter. The Bulldogs stretched that lead to it’s largest at six points with six minutes to go in the game when Iowa Mennonite turned things up. Eli Gingerich hit a big three down the stretch to tie the game, knocked down two clutch free throws and Nick Yutzy came up with a steal, and on the next defensive possession took a charge to secure the win.

In the victory IMS was led by Eli Gingerich with 22 points. The IMS boys are now 7-3 on the season.
