Iowa’s first in the nation caucuses will be held next week. On February 1st Iowans will have a chance, on both sides of the aisle, to vote who they believe should be the Republican and Democratic candidates for president this election cycle. Lorraine Williams, Washington County Democratic Chair, encourages people to participate as the world watches to see who we say should be the candidates.

According to Real Clear Politics’s average poll in Iowa, Donald Trump is leading the Republican nominees with 29% followed by Ted Cruz with 26.4% and Marco Rubio at 11.4%. Although, some polls do show Cruz leading Iowa.

On the Democratic side, in the RCP average, Hillary Clinton has 47.9% to Bernie Sanders’s 41.5%. Although, again, some polls show Sanders ahead of Clinton by as many as eight points.
