Healthy choices are often discussed in resolutions as the new year begins. Sarah Smith with Prelude Behavioral Services explains quitting smoking is a common resolution. She recommends using Quitline Iowa, a free service in the state, to help achieve this goal. Quitline Iowa offers services online and over the phone including quit coaches and plans to stop using tobacco.

Danielle Pettit-Majewski, administrator of Washington County Public Health, reminds people to set SMART goals to help make sure resolutions become lasting behaviors, with SMART standing for specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and time bound.
