Mid-Prairie has begun planning a party to keep prom night safe for students. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, prom season weekends have the highest rates of teen car deaths in the United States. The Mid-Prairie post-prom committee looks to put on a fun, safe party for students following the dance. As there are no public funds available, they are asking the community for help. Monetary donations would be used to cover rental fees of the Wellman Activity Center for the evening and for door prizes. Food donations are also welcome as well as gift certificates or other items to be used as door prizes. Those interested in donating may send them to Mid-Prairie High School in Wellman. Mid-Prairie’s prom will be on April 16th.
