The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk wrestling team travels to Durant today to participate in the 2016 River Valley Conference meet.

Mid-Prairie is one of 14 member schools that will attend. As a team the Golden Hawks finished the conference dual season with a 9-4 record, taking fourth place overall. The Golden Hawks dropped duals to West Liberty, Camanche, Northeast of Gooselake and Wilton. Camanche won the conference title outright with a perfect 13-0 mark.

Mid-Prairie enters today’s event with three wrestlers in their lineup ranked in the top 10 in their respective weight classes in class 2A according to thepredicament.com. Junior Duncan McCain is rated sixth in the state at 113lbs with a perfect 38-0 overall record. Visouth Peterschmidt is rated seventh at 195lbs with a record of 37-2 on the year. Levi Duwa is rated sixth in the state at 220lbs with an overall record of 36-3. There are a total of 15 ranked wrestlers in the conference.
