Iowa Mennonite School has named their new softball coach ahead of the upcoming 2016 season.

Kathryn Ney will assume the head coaching role this year, following previous IMS head coach Kim Wood. Ney is a graduate of Winfield-Mt. Union high school, where she was a standout on the diamond, helping the Wolves advance to the state tournament in her senior season. Ney also competed for two years at the collegiate level, playing at Drake University in Des Moines as an infielder. Ney previously served as an assistant coach on the Iowa Mennonite softball staff from 2006-2008.

Ney currently teaches in the Iowa City Community School District. She and her husband Randall are the parents of four children, Hannah, Levi, and Jesse, who have all graduated from IMS and Rubye who is currently a freshman at Iowa Mennonite. Ney inherits an IMS softball team that finished the 2015 season 1-17.
