A grant from the Washington County Riverboat Foundation will help a new classroom experience come to life. The foundation awarded Mid-Prairie Community Schools $8,500 to build an outdoor classroom. The classroom will be built near Kalona Elementary School and will be similar in design to an amphitheater and will have the ability to use school technology. MP Superintendent Mark Schneider tells KCII News, the school thanks the Riverboat Foundation and he hopes to break ground on the project this spring. Schneider said he hopes students will get to experience the new classroom setting this spring semester. However, if the weather doesn’t work out the project will be completed by fall 2016 at the latest.
