Two Southeast Conference rivals collided at the bowling alley this weekend in Washington. The Washington Demon bowling teams began a four-meet home stand Saturday afternoon, hosting the Mount Pleasant Panthers at Lebowski’s Rock N Bowl.

In the boys’ meet, Mount Pleasant (4-1 overall) avenged their early season loss to Washington, defeating the Demons (3-4 overall), 2,626-2,544. Two Demon bowlers scored two-game individual scores of 380 or higher. Junior Collin Zear posted a team-best 391, while freshman Riley Lambert recorded a 388. Washington trailed 1,806-1,747 entering the baker rounds, and Panthers edged the Demons in the final five games, 820-797.

The girls’ meet saw the Panthers (4-1 overall) drop the Demons (1-6 overall), 2,336-1,468. Washington had two bowlers record two-game scores above 280, including senior Cheyenne Gillette with a 289 and sophomore Anna Marie Walter posting a 281. The Demons only had four eligible bowlers for Saturday’s meet. Mount Pleasant took the individual portion of the meet, 1,578-1,005, edging Washington in the baker rounds, 758-459.

Washington’s next competition is scheduled for this Saturday, hosting the Keokuk Chiefs in Southeast Conference competition. First pins drop at 2 p.m. at Lebowski’s Rock N Bowl.
