Photos of plans for the Stewart Elementary School project.

Final construction documents for the preschool addition at Stewart Elementary were approved Wednesday evening. The Washington School Board passed it unanimously. Superintendent Jeff Dicks explained it as the green light to move forward with bidding plans. In June, voters passed a $2.3 million bond measure for the project. Six preschool classrooms and a child care center will be added to Stewart Elementary and the old Stewart West building will be demolished, also a new drop off and pick up area will be constructed. The superintendent also expressed thanks to the members of the Women of Washington Iowa Endowment board, who have helped with the process and donated funds early on.
