On July 29th, about 15,000 people will stay the night in Washington. RAGBRAI, The Register’s Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa, has announced Washington as the Friday overnight stop for the 2016 trek. Michelle Redlinger, director of the Washington Chamber of Commerce, said she was excited to learn the news and looks forward to showing off the community. They will be meeting with RAGBRAI officials in a couple of weeks to go over logistics from entertainment to camping locations for riders.

Sarah Sadrakula, director of Main Street Washington, adds she hopes people enjoy their visit to Washington and that they’ll want to come back for future trips. The Friday night stop will be one week after the Washington County Fair.
