In 2015, 28 people died in fires across Iowa. On Monday, three people died in Lee County in a trailer and a fourth person was taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals by AirEvac.

The Iowa Department of Public Safety reminds Iowans that heating equipment is a leading cause of home fire deaths in witner months. As temperatures dip and you’re heating your homes, be careful. Keep anything that can burn at least three feet away from heating equipment, like furnaces, wood stoves and space heaters. Also, never use an oven to heat a home.
