Just days ahead of the Iowa caucuses, a leading candidate will be in Washington. Bernie Sanders will be in Washington Friday at Cafe Dodici in downtown Washington. According to RealClearPolitics.com’s poll average, Sanders now leads the Democratic race in Iowa with 46% of support, over Hillary Clinton’s 45.8%. Doors open Friday at noon and the senator from Vermont will speak at 1 p.m. Those in attendance will be asked to canvass following the event.

So far this election cycle, the City of Washington has played host to candidates on both sides of the aisle, including Martin O’Malley, Ben Carson, Rand Paul, Jeb Bush, Mike Huckabee, Rick Santorum, and Carly Fiorina, as well as Bobby Jindal, who is no longer running.

Also, former President Bill Clinton will speak on behalf of the Hillary Clinton campaign in Washington today. He will speak at 4:30 p.m. at the Washington High School, doors open at 3:45 p.m.
