A trio of seniors helped the Winfield-Mount Union Wolves boys’ basketball team (6-3 overall) ring in the new year with a victory. The Wolves welcomed the New London Tigers (4-4 overall) to Winfield for a Southeast Iowa Super Conference cross over game. W-MU scored at least 20 points in their first three quarters, pulling away with a 74-58 victory.

Senior point guard Zach Davis, who entered the game as the conference leader in scoring, poured in a game-best 22 points. Senior forward Garrett Baker chipped in 21 points, while Sam Jennings added 15 points and brought down 17 rebounds in the victory.

The win snapped a two-game losing streak for W-MU, improving their record to 6-3 overall. The Wolves return to the floor Tuesday evening, hosting the Louisa-Muscatine Falcons (1-5 overall) in a Southeast Iowa Super Conference North matchup.
